Historical context

The son of Flavius Constantius, who served as an emperor of the Tetrarchy, Constantine campaigned in Britannia before being proclaimed augustus by his army at Eboracum following his father's death in 306. He later emerged victorious in the civil wars of the Tetrarchy, ultimately becoming the sole ruler of the Roman Empire by 324.

This bronze AE2 coinage was produced at the mint of Trier under Constantine's authority. The reverse features a turreted genius, depicted nude with draped loins, holding a patera and cornucopiae, accompanied by the inscription GENIO - POP ROM.
