Historical context

Constantine I, or Constantine the Great, served as Roman emperor from AD 306 to 337 and became the sole ruler of the Roman Empire by 324 following civil conflicts. On 8 November 324, Constantine elevated his son Constantius II to the imperial rank of Caesar. This coin was struck under Constantine's authority at Cyzicus, an ancient Greek town located in Mysia in Anatolia, featuring Constantius II on the obverse.
