Historical context

Constantius II was Roman emperor from 337 to 361. Following the death of his father, Constantine the Great, he became Augustus alongside his brothers, Constantine II and Constans, on 9 September 337. The brothers divided the empire, with Constantius receiving Greece, Thrace, the Asian provinces, and Egypt in the east. Constantius and Constans maintained an uneasy peace until Constans was overthrown and assassinated by Magnentius in 350.

Struck at Alexandria in Egypt under the authority of Constantius II, this small AE2 bronze and billon coin features his brother and co-emperor Constans. The obverse depicts Constans holding a globe, accompanied by the title "D N CONSTA-NS P F AVG". The reverse bears the legend "FEL TEMP - REPARATIO" and depicts Constans holding a standard and resting on a shield before two kneeling captives.
