Historical context

Constantius II, a son of Constantine the Great, was Roman emperor from 337 to 361. Following the division of the empire with his brothers in 337, he received the eastern territories, including Egypt, Greece, Thrace, and the Asian provinces. His reign involved prolonged conflict on the frontiers against the Sasanian Empire and Germanic peoples, alongside internal civil wars against usurpers such as Magnentius.

Produced at the mint of Alexandria in Egypt, this bronze and billon AE3 piece bears the obverse inscription "D N CONSTAN-TIVS P F AVG". The reverse design depicts a helmeted soldier spearing a fallen horseman, accompanied by the legend "FEL TEMP RE-PARATIO".
