Historical context

Elevated to Caesar in 324, he became Augustus alongside his brothers Constantine II and Constans in September 337, receiving Greece, Thrace, Egypt, and the Asian provinces. Following the death of his brothers and his victory over the usurper Magnentius by 353, Constantius ruled as sole emperor, operating amidst constant border conflicts and internal civil unrest.

Struck at the Constantinople mint under the authority of Constantius II, this bronze AE3 piece honours Helena. The obverse depicts her bust with the legend "FL IVL HEL-ENAE AVG". The reverse presents Pax holding a branch and a transverse sceptre, accompanied by the inscription "PAX PV-BLICA".
