Historical context
Constantius II was elevated to Caesar by his father Constantine the Great in 324, becoming Augustus alongside his brothers in 337 and eventually sole emperor following the defeat of Magnentius in 353. His reign, lasting until 361, was marked by repeated civil conflicts and wars against the Sasanian Empire. This coinage was produced at Cyzicus, an ancient Greek town situated in Mysia in Anatolia on the Sea of Marmara.
