Historical context

Elevated to Augustus alongside his brothers in 337, he initially received Greece, Thrace, the Asian provinces, and Egypt. His reign was dominated by border warfare against the Sasanian Empire and Germanic peoples, as well as domestic conflicts, usurpations, and civil wars, including his conflict against Magnentius, which left him sole ruler in 353.

Struck at the mint of Cyzicus, this bronze and billon small AE2 carries the obverse legend "D N CONSTAN-TIVS P F AVG". The reverse depicts the emperor holding a shield and a standard bearing a Chi-Rho on its banner, positioned before two kneeling captives whose heads turn towards one another. This composition is accompanied by the reverse legend "FEL TEMP - REPARATIO", reflecting the imperial coinage produced during his rule over the empire.
